A tribute to Nina Simone, an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist.

Born to a poor family in Tryon, North Carolina, and sixth of eight children, Simone initially aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of a few supporters in her hometown, she enrolled into the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She also applied for a scholarship to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was denied admission despite a well received audition, for reasons rooted in racist principles. However, in 2003, just days before her death, the same Institute awarded her with an honorary degree.

To make a living, Simone started playing piano at a nightclub in Atlantic City. She started singing to her own accompaniment only later on, which effectively launched her career as a jazz vocalist. She went on to record more than 40 albums between 1958 and 1974, making her debut with Little Girl Blue. Her musical style fused gospel and pop with classical music, in particular Johann Sebastian Bach, and accompanied expressive, jazz-like singing in her contralto voice.

Foot measurements directions:

Foot length is more accurately measured when standing directly on a ruler or measuring tape.
Make sure you measure from the furthest back/central part of the heel to the end of the longest toe.

Foot width shall be measured by wrapping a measuring tape around the widest part of your foot, usually where your bunion joint is. Ensure you have your full weight on the foot for accuracy.

You may want to repeat the whole measuring process a few times to confirm your measuring results.
