Description

A tribute to “Shorty” George Snowden, one of the best swing dancers in Harlem during the 1920s and 1930s. He and his partner Mattie Purnell invented the Harlem Lindy Hop in a dance marathon at Harlem’s Rockland Palace between June and July 1928.

Snowden is sometimes credited as the inventor of the name Lindy Hop for the popular partner jazz dance he then became famous for. The name, in connection with Snowden and Purnell’s invention, was used for the first time in public in September 1928, when Snowden was asked to perform at the Lincoln Theatre in Harlem.

After the dance marathon, Snowden became a popular dancer at the Savoy Ballroom of Harlem, New York, and all around the United States as he and his dance group became the first Savoy Lindy Hoppers.

Foot measurements directions:

Foot length is more accurately measured when standing directly on a ruler or measuring tape.
Make sure you measure from the furthest back/central part of the heel to the end of the longest toe.

Foot width shall be measured by wrapping a measuring tape around the widest part of your foot, usually where your bunion joint is. Ensure you have your full weight on the foot for accuracy.

You may want to repeat the whole measuring process a few times to confirm your measuring results.
